The History of Bags Made in China
When the Chinese first opened their doors to manufacture products in China some of the most popular items to manufacture were garments, electronics, watches and clocks, and of course, bags.
Backpacks in general have been a great product manufactured in the Southern Region of China closer to Hong Kong as most Hong Kong owned factories loved to make backpacks and other travel bags.
Back in the 80’s and 90’s most of the bags manufactured in China were of very low quality and not very comfortable.
Nowadays, more and more people are willing to pay a bit more for quality and comfort. The shoulder pads are thicker and the back support has more padding and made ergonomically friendly for the body. Backpack manufacturers in general are into newer ideas, such as pockets to accommodate electronics, or pouches to protect laptops and tablets.
Materials like neoprene and 420/600D Nylon are commonly used for manufacturing sporty or travel bags. A lot of suitcases in general either use hard shell or jute material. The Chinese factories that are manufacturing bags are also manufacturing their own accessories so that they can reduce the cost of buying from other vendors and in turn can do everything in house.
Embroidery and silk screening is also being introduced to many of these Chinese factories as well.
Most vendors also sell these bags for promotional orders to other countries. For example, Toyota purchases bags to use for their Back-To-School Program and to use as giveaways for new car owners.
Bags are one product category that will always be popular and as such, always improving in quality and design.
